Art Lessons

“A man paints with his brain and not with his hands.”- Michelangelo

Art has always been a great way for kids and adults to express their emotions, work out situations, and feel the fulfillment of creating something unique. And with any activity, learning useful techniques can make the experience a lot more fun. As a practicing professional Artist with an Associates Degree in Art Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, I can help your child sharpen their skills in traditional mediums and also discuss the “How’s” and “Why’s” of Art and Art Theory.
Sitting in a classroom with a group, drawing or painting is fine. It’s good to practice, but each person has a strong imaginative or creative side, which deserves special attention. In a tutoring setting, your child will have all the attention, and will have the freedom to experiment and progress without any grades or pressure.
Some people see Art as just a hobby, but it offers so much, especially to young people. By creating something themselves, children attain better self-esteem and a feeling of accomplishment. Art helps them look more closely and appreciate the world around them-at people, nature, architecture, and so many other things. It presents a good challenge to focus and follow through with a project, while stimulating the brain and relieving some stress. I’ve learned these things through experience and think they are all positive additions to any young person’s life.
I’m offering unique, specialized tutoring to any young person from age 6 to 13 because I think it is a great age to use Art to learn and to express one’s self.  I’m also offering lessons to anyone older than this who may want to learn some new techniques or a different medium. If you or your child has an interest or passion for art, I would love to help. Just get in touch with me any time of day, any day of the week, and we can go over any questions you may have or set up a time to start.
